4/19 – 4/25, 2011

The Business

4/19/11 - Jayy, Erik, C.J. and Jon met for the regular class time. The group discussed editing the upcoming projects and who would be doing what with the editing. Ann had a migraine and was absent.

4/21/11 – Ann and Erik met briefly. Jayy was sick today and couldn’t make it to class. Group critiques were finished and handed in.

The Business

4/12/11 - Jayy, Erik, Jon, Ann and C.J. meet for class time. We discuss shoots that we are going to do that week. Erik works on his TnCIS project in the edit suite.

4/14/11 - Jayy, Erik, C.J., and Ann met briefly for class time to discuss the shoot on Saturday.

4/16/11 - Jayy, Erik, C.J. and Ann meet for the shoot at Bagwell in Katie's office. Ann runs the camera while Jayy acts and directs the scene with the actress Charlotte. Jayy and C.J. discuss a scene for C.J. to shoot on Monday for his trailer. This is our last planned shoot for The Business program. Editing is to begin next.

April 5 - 11, 2011

The Business

April 5 - Jayy, C.J., Erik, Ann and Jon met for the weekly class. We viewed parts of the April 3 shoot that had audio problems and discussed ways of correcting it. The deadline for our project was discussed along with ways to make sure that we complete the project on time.

April 7 - No meeting today.

April 10 - Jayy, Erik, C.J., Jon and Ann meet at Jayy's house to shoot four scenes. The two actors were there playing the parts of an assassin, and Laura. Jayy played the part of Angel as well as directing the scenes. Erik also played the part of an assassin. Jon, Jayy and C.J. worked on the choreography of the fight scene with the actors playing the assassins. Ann ran the camera. The shoot was a success.

March 29 – April 5, 2011

The Business

3/29 – The group meets to discuss the location for the Thursday shoot.

3/31 – The class meets with only the members who are going to be present at the shoot that night. Jayy, C.J., Ann and Jon arrive at the Rotunda at Pellissippi State’s Goins building to set up for that night’s shoot. The four actors arrive and we try to shoot. C.J. is on boom, Ann is on Camera, Jayy directs. Due to constant interruptions from people passing through the area that we are shooting in, we scrap that nights shoot and re-schedule for Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at the Rotunda. Ann finishes the script for the TnCIS script and gives it to Jayy and C.J.

4/2 – Jayy, Ann, C.J. and Erik meet with the four actors to re-shoot the scene in the Rotunda. A wedding is supposed to take place there at three o’clock, (much to our surprise) so we set up quickly but run into problems with the audio. Jayy and Ann set up the audio, first to a Marantz through a mixer, which proved unsuccessful, and then through the mixer into a camera. C.J. ran the camera responsible for the audio while Ann ran the main camera. C.J. also had to hold a battery door shut on the wireless microphone to keep the actor’s mic on. Erik was to monitor the audio. Although the shoot was unpleasant at times, we got it shot and in the can. A stressful but successful day!

March 22 – 28, 2011

The Business

3/22/11 – Erik, Jayy, C.J. Jon and Ann meet for a strategy meeting to discuss how the projects are coming and what is needed to be shot for this week. We scout places to shoot. Jon suggests shooting in the College Center and he and Jayy discuss the shot. C.J. and Ann go back and test the camera to see if it will look ok for the shoot. It does.

3/23/11 – Jayy, C.J. and Ann meet with Jeremy to film a night scene. We shoot it at a business off of Executive Park behind one of the closed businesses. C.J. runs the camera while Ann acts in one scene as well as the establishing shot and Ann shoots the rest.

3/24/11 – C.J., Erik, Jayy and Ann meet in the College Center to shoot a scene for the trailer for C.J.’s project. C.J. had to leave early that day. Jayy and Kafille acted while Ann shot the footage. Jayy directed the scene.

3/15/11 - Jayy, C.J. Erik, and Jon meet to talk about the filming from the previous week and to take stock of where the production stands at this point. Ann was unable to attend today’s meeting because of an appointment that ran overtime.

3/17/11 – Erik, C. J. Jayy, Ann and Jon meet briefly today. Editing rooms are reserved as well as the studio and sound booth. Erik decides that Ann should do the narration for the TnCIS project. Jayy and Ann go to the PAC to check it out for a possible filming site for the re-shooting of the trailer for C.J.

3/18/11 – Ann scouts location filming for b-roll and takes footage of the moon while traveling down a gravel road through the woods.

March 1 – March 14, 2011

March 1, 2011 – Jayy, Erik, C.J., Jon and Ann meet to discuss arrangements for the casting call scheduled for 3/3/2011. Shooting during Spring break is also discussed.

March 3, 2011 – Jayy distributes flyers for the casting call and several people show up. Jayy, C.J. and Erik conduct interviews while Ann films the auditions and Jon takes information and assists. Several parts are cast including Laura, Boots, Giovanni, Zeus, and Loudmouth. It is decided that Jayy will play Angel. The shoot for Spring break is discussed with filming slated to start on Tuesday, March 8, 2011.

March 8, 2011 – Jayy, C.J., Erik, Jon and Ann meet at Jayy’s house to film the scene between the Assassin, played by Michael Hutchins, and a civilian, played by C.J.  Jayy, Jon, Erik and Ann run camera for today’s shoot. 

March 10, 2011 – Jayy, Erik, and C.J. meet at Pellissippi State duck pond to film a scene between Loudmouth, Angel, Laura and Zeus. Both Campus 3 crew were absent for this shoot. Erik primarily ran the camera while C.J. and Jayy filmed as well.

 March 11, 2011 – Jayy and Ann traveled to Lenoir City to film the scene with Loudmouth, Angel and Laura at a cabin. Jayy set up a stationary camera while Ann ran handheld and set up lighting.
